Having A Puppy Shower?
You’ve already sent out your new puppy announcement cards and now have decided to have a puppy shower. We have pink, blue an other styles of puppy shower invitations here at Rub My Belly Too.com. Send our puppy shower invitations to invite everyone to see your new family member in person. Enter the details about the puppy shower in your invitation. Many of your friends, family members and other dog lovers may have never been to a puppy shower and may not be sure what to expect. Tell them almost everything but leave some things as a surprise. It’ll increase the fun. Do remind them to bring their puppy on a lease to keep things under control.
If this is your first “puppy shower” leave plenty of time ( 2-3 weeks) to plan the party and ask for any help you may need. Don’t blow your budget. Make a list or lists and check them twice (at least). Plan to save money by making some of the decorations, if need be. With paper, rubber stamps (paw print), stickers and other ideas and items from a party store you can design the décor. Decide if your going to make all of the party food, have guest bring some of their best eats or catering the party.
Set the mood with plenty of fun and games for the puppies and their owners after all you have to keep them entertained too! That includes the food you serve. Have plenty of kibble for the puppies but have some human food too . For fun you can serve all the guests from dog bowls (new ones of course). The guests can take them home as a free gift. Have lots of refreshments especially if it’s going to be very hot. Remind the dog owners to bring a leash to use in playing some of the games but also to quickly separate any combatants and settle any food fights or any territorial disputes. I mean between the dogs the humans will be on their best behavior.
Make games such as the obstacle run ( a mini agility course), the treat toss, an eating race, pin the tail on the puppy, have the pet and its owner weighed for guest to guess the total weight. That way none of the ladies will hesitate to be weighed. Play treasure hunt with the puppies, Have plenty of rewards for the game winners. Each puppy should be given it’s own toys to use in the games. You can also fill a dog treat jar with biscuits and have the party guests guess how many treats are in the jar. The one who gets the closest gets to take the dog treat jar home. You can also play the board game Puppy-Opoly . At the start of the party you can give all of the human guests a disposable camera to take plenty of funny pictures at the party.
If guests are bringing gifts to the party remind them not to get too many dog treats after all you have to watch your puppies weight. More practical gifts such as harnesses, a colorful bandanna, toys, a pooper scooper or do a little research and find gifts such as the “Hot “Dog” it attaches to your cigarette lighter and alarms when the inside of the car becomes too hot for your dog to be safe in the car. The alarm can be heard for up to a mile. They can also bring gifts such as coupons for pet sitting, pet walking and or a vet visit.
Provide a place where the puppies can go to rest away from the party as all the excitement could make them very tired. Besides every puppy needs a nap. They will also need a place to get them out of the hot sun. You can even consider getting a kids pool for the puppies to cool off in. On a really hot day the puppies need to have a place to get out of the sun. Place blankets in a shaded area for them to rest on. Hopefully you have a tree that provides shade. If not maybe you can provide an area in your home for the puppies to cool off.
Be sure to provide “goodie bags” filled with fun toys and treats to all your guests as they leave the party. Don't let them leave empty handed.
