Dog Gifts For The Holidays
27 Mar 2008

Don’t forget man’s best friend this gift-giving season. More and more retailers and designers are catering to the canine population. If you have a dog, add something fun and fabulous to the gift list for him. Here are a few ideas for dog gifts.

The holiday season can be chilly. We bundle up in coats so why not outfit your dog the same way. Fur can only keep you so warm. Splurge on a doggy jacket. Keep those canine appendages warm and dry when you stroll around the neighborhood to show off their new duds.

While we’re on the subject of warmth, dogs like to be warm when they sleep. How about a heated dog bed? When the weather gets cold, your dog won’t feel the chill in his bones. A heated dog bed means a good night’s sleep every night. You may even have to drag him out of bed in the morning.

Treat your dog to a day of canine pampering. Dog resorts offer spa packages. Your special friend can enjoy a shampoo, grooming, nail care, massage, and other services. They will be king or queen for the day without you having to serve as the royal groomer.

His current chew toys may be getting old. Get him a few new ones to gnaw on. If you have a small dog, make sure that the chew toy is big enough for him to pounce on as well. They can practice being a fierce hunter.

Kong® makes some of the most durable chew toys out there today. Choose from plush, balls, and rubber chew toys. Plush toys have squeakers inside and the toy fur is safe for dog.

Stuff a new chew toy with delicious treats. Dogs are quite fond of peanut butter. This type of toy will keep your dog busy for hours.

Depending on how long you’ve had your dog, that water and food bowl may be pretty chewed or scuffed up. A new set of ceramic bowls would make a perfect gift for your dog. You can even purchase ones that have dog’s name on it. This is more for you than for him since he can’t read, but it just looks better.

In lieu of a physical gift, take your dog on a trip. Check into dog vacations on the Internet. Use the keywords “dog vacations” and find possible destination spots that allow pets. If you want something less expensive and closer to home, take him to his favorite dog park for a day of unfettered fun.
